The Faculty of Law is one of the most intensively developing faculties at Samara State University. Higher legal education has a long history in Samara (former Kuibyshev). Since 1930 the expert-lawyers were trained at Samara branches of Saratov Legal Institute and later Moscow Legal Institute. After the revival of Samara State University in 1969, the training of lawyers started at the Faculty of Humanities. In 1975 first specialists in Law graduated. The Faculty of Law was established at SSU in 1976.
Today the Faculty of Law is one of the most in-demand faculties, the leading school of legal education and research in Samara region.
Among our highly qualified academic staff there are ten full professors and over 50 candidates of Law.

The curriculum includes the study of over 60 disciplines divided into several blocks:

Bachelor of Law (length of study – 4 years) with one of the following majors:
Master of Law (length of study – 2 years).
Students of Law actively participate in a numerous conferences, round tables and seminars in Samara and all over Russia as well. The best students' theses are published in university scientific annuals.
Students have opportunities to put their theoretical knowledge into practice at SSU Legal Clinic, the legal advice office attached to the Samara Regional Duma and Union of Lawyers. They provide free legal assistance to Samara citizens.
The department has a great number of contacts with other law universities in Russia and abroad and regularly invites professors who give lectures at SSU.
The faculty is situated in a new, well-equipped building and has its own legal library.
