The Faculty was founded in 1969. Professor A.D. Ershov was the first dean and the head of the Department of Physics. The Faculty has modern material, technical resources, and a highly qualified teaching staff. Forty-seven lecturers are in staff at the faculty, and most of them are candidates and doctors of sciences.

The Faculty fruitfully cooperates with the leading academic, scientific and research organizations: Physical and Mathematical Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (Dubna), Scientific-Research Institute of Nuclear Physics of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Metallophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ioffe Physical Technical Institute (St. Petersburg), Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science (Ukraine), Institute of Solid State Physics and Institute of Radio Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Quantum Technologies (National University of Durban, South African Republic).

The faculty of Physics offers the following graduate programmes:

Bachelor of Physics (length of study - 4 years) with one of the majors:

  • Theoretical Physics;
  • Physics of Condensed Matter.

Master of Physics in 4 majors (length of study - 2 years):

  • Theoretical and Mathematical Physics;
  • Laser Physics; 
  • Physics of Condensed Matter;
  • Semiconductor Physics and Nanoelectronics. 

The faculty also offers postgraduate study in 6 majors.

The faculty prepares specialists for productive and rewarding careers in science and research, education and industry. Our graduates successfully work for such well-known companies as Samsung, LG-Electronics, Intel, and in universities and scientific institutions in Russia and abroad (USA, Japan, Great Britain, France, South African Republic, etc.)
